1963 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible L76 327/340 4-Speed
Overview
This 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible offers an early example of the manufacturer’s celebrated C2-generation sports car. Beautifully preserved, unrestored, and accident-free, this highly authentic Corvette benefits from long-term Southern California ownership. Original Riverside Red paint (Code 923) makes this convertible one of just 4,612 examples produced in the color, paired here with a Saddle leather interior (Trim Code 898B). The body presents exceptionally well, remaining very straight with intact bonding strips, original chrome and stainless trim, and a rust-free, fully detailed undercarriage consistent with its West coast history.
Numbers-matching 327ci L76 V8 motivation packs 340 horsepower, identified by its correct “RE” suffix code and casting number. Muncie 4-speed manual shifting routes power to the rear wheels while correct details fill out the fully detailed engine bay, including a dual-snorkel air cleaner and proper ignition shielding. Notably well optioned, this Corvette is further specified with power steering, power brakes, power windows, an AM/FM radio, and optional knock-off alloy wheels w/standard wheel caps. Well-kept interior surfaces, convertible top upholstery, and weather stripping lend collector appeal inside and out.
Reported as actual, the odometer reads 75,946 miles. Recent service, a new Borgeson power steering conversion kit, and wiper motor, enhance drivability with respect for period appearance and performance. Revered for its iconic design, the 1963–1967 Sting Ray stands as the Corvette’s shortest-lived era of production and continues to define the marque to the present day. Unrestored examples of this quality bring capability as enjoyable grand touring cars with increasing collectible panache.
