Overview

One of just 52 built, this 1967 Ghia 450SS defines a moment in time. Stamped chassis with number 4016, this late production example benefits from past sympathetic restoration work in keeping with its period aesthetic. Further, this chassis is believed to be one of two originally finished in Yellow—the other being displayed in Barcelona, Spain when new. This car's reupholstered Black seats and door panels are accented by Yellow piping, complimenting novel of-the-era charms including copper gauge bezels, veneer console trim, and a wood-rimmed Ferrero steering wheel. Interior modifications include a Kenwood AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo with aftermarket door and trunk speakers, plus an Equus under-dash temperature gauge.

.

Steel bodywork features graceful hand-worked contours, refinished in its original shade during the early 2000s. Beneath a front-hinged hood, Chrysler 273ci Commando V8 power pairs with 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic shifting. Both the engine and transmission are stated to have been rebuilt within the last 10k miles. 14” Borrani wire wheels feature knock off center caps and sit over front disc/rear drum brakes, while a Wilwood brake booster plus Edelbrock air cleaner and carburetor update this convertible’s engine compartment. Now showing 75k miles, this sought after 450SS presents a rarified opportunity for the serious collector.

Among renowned Italian coachbuilders of the 1960s, Ghia remains an icon in popular memory to the present day. The Turin-based design firm attracted celebrity talent including Giorgetto Giugiaro, generating instantly recognizable automotive silhouettes throughout the Midcentury Jet Age design epoch. During this period, Ghia’s legacy with the Chrysler Corporation’s concept and production vehicles loomed large as an aspirational influence across the industry.
