1967 | Jaguar XKE Series I 4.2 Roadster
Overview
The Jaguar XKE Series I 4.2 Roadster, introduced in 1964, built on the success of the original E-Type with a larger 4.2-liter engine. This update followed the Series I’s 1961 debut, a revolutionary sports car designed by Malcolm Sayer, with contributions from Jaguar’s founder Sir William Lyons. Known for its striking design, advanced aerodynamics, and race-proven technology, the XKE combined beauty and performance, offering independent suspension, disc brakes, and a top speed of 150 mph. The 4.2-liter inline-six engine delivered 265 horsepower and paired with a new synchromesh gearbox, offering smoother shifts. The Series I is celebrated as one of the most iconic and desirable Jaguars ever produced and remains an enduring collector's items to this day.
The 1967 E-Type offered here has remained owned by one family for several decades, and has benefitted from extensive refurbishment work performed in the early 2000s, plus additional overhaul work performed in 2015. The earlier refurbishment included a repaint in white, a transmission rebuild, and overhaul of the suspension and brakes. Chrome and brightwork were reconditioned, and the interior was refreshed with dark blue upholstery and a replacement blue soft top. Documentation from 2015 shows a full engine rebuild, including replacement of the pistons, rings, full valvetrain, rod and main bearings, decking and honing, sleeving the cylinders, repairing cracks, grinding and sealing the crankshaft, and conversion to electronic ignition. Additional work included replacing the front and rear suspension as well as the brake master cylinder. The result is a remarkably preserved example of a British icon, ready for years more enjoyment. Now showing 77k miles, it is offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, images of the refurbishment process, a seller's disclosure report, and a clean title.
