1969 | Porsche 911E
Overview
The Porsche 911E, introduced in 1969, was developed to create a more refined and drivable 911 while retaining the model's sporting character. Positioned between the entry-level 911T and the higher-performance 911S, the 911E featured a 2.0-liter flat-six engine with mechanical fuel injection, delivering smooth power and improved throttle response. In 1970, the displacement increased to 2.2 liters, boosting power output to 153 horsepower. The "E" stood for "Einspritzung," the German word for injection, marking the car’s innovative fuel system. Its development focused on balancing comfort and performance, featuring improved suspension and more luxurious interior appointments. The 911E remains a beloved classic, known for its precision handling, smooth power delivery, and blend of performance and everyday usability.
The 1969 Porsche 911E offered here has benefitted from recent refreshment and now presents in excellent condition. The previously applied decals on both sides of the car were carefully removed, followed by a full respray in the original Porsche special paint Metallic Blue 6853, restoring its factory-fresh appearance. A period-correct mahogany steering wheel and new horn button were installed, replacing the aftermarket unit for a more authentic look and feel. Additionally, the rocker panel molding was replaced, and the door panel pockets were expertly repaired and refinished. Mechanically, the vehicle received a comprehensive engine tune-up, addressing performance concerns with new spark plugs, air and fuel filters, distributor cap, ignition rotor, oil filter, and ignition distributor. This numbers-matching 911 E now runs and drives as intended, standing as a remarkable example of Porsche’s engineering heritage. It is now offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a binder of records, a Seller's Disclosure report, and a clean title.
