Overview

This 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, Serial No. 08118, presents a well-kept example ready for its next collector caretaker. Series 3, or ‘Tipo E’, US-market specification lends final-year production among the manufacturer’s most prized Dino models. Recent interior refurbishment brings Daytona-style Red/Black seating alongside desirable options including air conditioning, power windows, Cromodora alloy wheels, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/8-track stereo. Accompanied by a Marcel Massini report, Ferrari Classiche Red Book certification, and factory accessories, the vehicle is currently located with the selling dealer in West Vancouver, British Columbia.

Finished in Rosso Chiaro, this car’s mid-engine 2.4L DOHC V6 power, gated 5-speed manual shifting, and two-seat targa roof Pininfarina styling make for a timeless combination. Behind the cockpit, Weber 40 DCNF carburetors and ANSA quad-tip exhaust combine for a free-breathing mechanical symphony. Double wishbone suspension and Koni shock absorbers transmits driver inputs to the road with grip held by Michelin XWX tires. Essential equipment of the era adds a Momo leather-wrapped steering wheel and Veglia Borletti instruments displaying an odometer reading of 77k miles at the time of cataloguing. Notably, this example received the Ferrari Cup Award to win its class at the 19th Annual Cavallino Classic held in Palm Beach, Florida.

Introduced in 1969 to succeed the 206 GT, the Dino 246 GT/GTS employed a larger aluminum-block version of 206's cast-iron V6. This new engine produced 15 horsepower more than its predecessor—yielding both increased torque and a broader power band. The wheelbase was lengthened by 60mm to accommodate additional displacement as well as make the car more stable at high speeds. Removable roof GTS models stand today as the Dino’s most recognizable final form, complete with open headlights and split chrome bumpers straying little from the car’s 330 P4 inspiration.
