1977 | Porsche 911S Targa Five-Speed
Overview
First offered in 1967 as a stylized standalone roll bar, Porsche's Targa soon became an institution with airy fixed rear glass completing the 911 silhouette. Despite the polarizing effects of impact bumpers, 1974’s introduction of the G-series generation grew the model lineup’s breadth and depth. Both closed and open cars benefitted alike as changes to displacement, fuel delivery, and trim levels brought differentiation and staying power to the platform.
.
By now a mainstay in the manufacturers’ lexicon, S-trim harvested stiffened suspension, braking improvements, and widened wheels alongside all 911’s adoption of a 2.7L power plant. Touting 165 horsepower via K-Jetronic fuel injection, the S scratched a sweet spot of everyday comfort and reliability with added sporting character. The street-duty contender from Zuffenhausen combined a rear-engine layout with independent suspension and five-speed manual shifting.
.
Finished in stunning Sienna Metallic over Cork leatherette, this 1977 911S Targa shows late 70s Porsche at its open-top best. Recent restoration and thorough mechanical reconditioning yield a spec more than memorable inside and out. A host of recent maintenance plus OE performance value adds include 3.0 SC oil cooler, camshafts/ towers, and Carrera hydraulic chain tensioners.
