Overview

This 1984 Ferrari 512 BBi represents the final and most refined evolution of the iconic Berlinetta Boxer. With just 1,007 units built from 1981-1984, this late-production example shows Ferrari’s 4.9-liter flat-12 fed by smooth Bosch K-Jetronic injection and mated to a gated 5-speed manual transaxle. Tastefully fitted with Group 4 (BBi 1775, 1785) 17-inch wheels and new Michelin Pilot Sport tires, it delivers the quintessential analog Ferrari supercar experience, complete by a limited-slip differential.

Special ordered for European delivery (EE 99357), the car was factory painted in rare Bianco (FER 100) over Beige (3218) leather. Its first custodian, Dr. Roger E. Wilcox—renowned surgeon and larger-than-life personality whose exploits were immortalized in M*A*S*H—establishes distinctive and culturally significant provenance. A substantial dossier accompanies the car, including original purchase paperwork, registrations (international and domestic), importation and federalization documents, as well as its original Ferrari Certificate of Origin.

Between 2005 and 2010, this Ferrari was comprehensively refurbished and refinished in its current Rosso Ferrari (20-R-187) livery under its second owner—Phoenix attorney, James Speer. Long-term maintenance and eventual restoration involvement by noted Ferrari engineer Bob Wallace until his passing in 2013 pairs with and consistent documented care since including an engine rebuild in 2009. A recent major engine-out service and clutch replacement were completed in 2024, followed by a 2026 inspection, service, and extensive detailing, ensuring the car remains mechanically sorted and collector-ready.

Importantly, the 512 BBi retains its original Pioneer radio, VIN-matching owner’s manuals in folio, original tool kit in supplemental leather pouch, spare tire, knockoff hammer, emergency accessories, and comprehensive records. As a late-production Boxer combining special-order European delivery, distinguished provenance, restoration pedigree, and extensive documentation, this example offers a rare opportunity to acquire one of Ferrari’s most charismatic flat-12 road cars.
