Overview

Finished in classic Rosso Corsa with black lower body over a tan leather interior, this 1986 Ferrari 328 GTS presents as one of the most desirable examples of Maranello’s iconic mid-engine V8 lineage. The selling party states the car is “1 of 12” 328s delivered new to the U.S. with factory Boxer trim; while exact factory records are scarce, and with a portion of the Ferrari Classiche certification for the car which would have definitively confirmed the factory trim sadly lost, surviving photos of the Red Book show the car with its black lower body. Showing just 7,500 miles, the car has spent the past decade in a private collection, benefiting from careful preservation. Its crisp body lines, removable targa roof, and signature five-spoke alloys epitomize Pininfarina’s refined styling update over the earlier 308, while still maintaining the timeless proportions that defined Ferrari’s 1980s aesthetic.

Launched in 1985, the 328 was the final development of the 308 platform and one of the last V8 models overseen during Enzo Ferrari’s lifetime. Power comes from a 3.2-liter transverse-mounted quattrovalvole V8, paired with a gated five-speed gearbox delivering approximately 260 horsepower in U.S. specification. Period road tests praised its balance of usability and performance, with 0–60 mph times in the mid-five-second range and a top speed near 155 mph. In total, Ferrari built just over 7,400 328s from 1985 to 1989, of which a majority were open-top GTS models like this one.

This low-mileage 1986 GTS exemplifies the enduring appeal of Ferrari’s analog era: mechanical purity, elegant proportions, and a driving experience unfiltered by modern electronics. The tan leather cabin shows minimal wear consistent with careful storage, while the Rosso Corsa and black paintwork retains the rich luster enthusiasts expect. The car further benefits from its most recent full engine-out service performed in 2023. With its removable roof panel for open-air motoring and strong investment potential within the collector market, this 328 GTS offers an exceptional opportunity to acquire one of Ferrari’s most celebrated V8 sports cars.
