1987 | Ferrari 328 GTS
Overview
Ferrari's 308 left more than a generational impact, beginning with its Paris Auto Show debut in 1973. Its beautiful Pininfarina design was among the longest-serving of any prancing horse, remaining in production up until 1989. The 308 / 328 also served as one of the last Ferraris of the brand’s pre-unibody construction era. Ferrari evolved the 308 into the 328 for 1986. Though both retained similar bodies, the 328 brought several changes intended to improve its aesthetic appearance and drivetrain - including a larger 3.2-liter V8 engine, updated fuel injection system, and various exterior/interior styling changes. The 328 was available in two forms: the GTB, which offered a fixed roof, and the GTS, which featured a removable roof panel for open-top motoring.
Featured here is a 1987 Ferrari 328 GTS, bringing a desirable Rosso Corsa body overlaid with a Tan interior. Being a GTS model, this US-market Ferrari 328 comes with a Targa roof arrangement and a removable roof panel to convert it seamlessly between coupe and convertible. Other period-correct exterior highlights include mechanical front headlights and a set of Ferrari Speedline alloy wheels.
The inside features a Tan leather interior, overlaid with a black leather upholstered dashboard and red interior carpets. A leather three-spoke steering wheel and gated five-speed manual transmission face the driver. Standard equipment on this Ferrari includes air conditioning/heater, power windows, center console gauges, and a heated windscreen. In addition, this 328 GTS benefits from the addition of an Alpine headunit with Bluetooth connectivity and JL Audio in-car speakers, providing modern-day connectivity and an improved audio experience to the cabin. An aluminium radiator and upgraded air conditioning system have also been added for improved cooling, whilst preserving the rest of the 3.2L mid-engined V8 powertrain in its entirety.
Just under 37,000 miles are displayed on the odometer. Service records dating back to 1990 provide additional transparency on the care this Ferrari 328 received early and throughout its life. In addition, two keyfobs, tool kit, spare wheel and owners literature will accompany the sale. For any current or aspiring Ferrarista, this 328 GTS presents an excellent opportunity to acquire a classic, low-mileage example of Maranello engineering in desirable factory specification.
