1988 | Aston Martin V8 Volante
Overview
First added in kind to Aston Martin's mid-century DB model range, the Vantage nameplate was developed as a standalone offering by 1977. The V8 Vantage arrived fortified with five-liter displacement and a record-setting top speed, elevating Aston Martin's reputation as a contender in performance road cars of the highest caliber. In tandem, development of the manufacturer's open-top coachwork warranted resurrection of the Volante badge. At the intersection of speed and luxury, a new V8 Volante drew from both models' best merits following its 1978 debut continuing well into the next decade.
.
By 1986 the Volante received Weber-Marelli fuel injection, tallied 305 horsepower, and claimed a top speed of 150mph—impressive for any convertible of the era. Marked by low production and fine materials throughout, Series 2 examples (1986-1989) garnered attention among buyers in search of hand-craftsmanship truly in a twilight preceding modernizations of the 1990s. In a class of its own, the car's unique blend of transitional styling and opulent appointments defined a pivotal moment in Aston Martin's legacy.
.
Presented in a fitting green over Parchment leather, this U.S.-spec Aston Martin V8 Volante offers a chance at Britain's best from 1988. Wood veneer trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and green contrast seat piping introduce passengers to the well-stocked cabin. This example's power convertible top, cruise control, air conditioning, power windows, and power mirrors aid comfort and convenience. Below the center-dash Kienzle clock, an aftermarket Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo and Motorola car phone sit close at hand. Shifting is provided by a three-speed automatic transmission, routing power to the rear wheels. Front driving lights, BBS 15" wheels, polished lower rocker trim, and dual exhaust accent the car's stylized silhouette. Now showing 5,618 miles, this unrestored time capsule convertible benefits from recent mechanical refurbishment. A clean title, AutoCheck report, and third-party inspection report accompany the sale.
