Overview

Built from 1989 to 1996, the Aston Martin Virage Coupe was intended to serve as the British luxury brand’s flagship grand tourer model.  Composed of an all-aluminium body and multiple layers of Connolly leather, each Virage prided itself on its hand-built, bespoke configuration - each reportedly taking 14 weeks to complete. All examples featured a hand-assembled 5.3L V8 under the hood, engineered by American performance firm Callaway to produce up to 335 hp. Carrying a window sticker price of around $265,000 when new, the Virage Coupe was marketed to serve only the most discerning and elite of grand tourer clientele. Famous past Virage owners have included the likes of Rowan Atkinson, Elton John, Chris Eubank, and Lennox Lewis.

This 1992 Aston Martin Virage featured on Sotheby’s Motorsports is one of 411 Virage Coupes built worldwide, with its rarity emphasized as one of the reportedly fewer than 100 allocated for the North American market. The hand-built Lagonda body is finished in Black, with a Grey and Black leather interior with burled wood interior trim featured inside. Featured equipment onboard includes a leather steering wheel, power-adjustable heated leather seats with memory functions, climate control, and a multi-function trip computer center display. Power comes from a 5.3L V8, sending power to the rear wheels through an automatic transmission.

This example further benefits from an extensive restoration performed under a previous owner to restore this Aston Martin to its factory-fresh appearance, which is reported to have included stripping the car entirely to apply a fresh Black paint finish, along with refurbishing the leather upholstery and interior carpeting. The 5.3L V8 engine also received a major overhaul as part of this work, most notably involving the rebuild of the fuel injection system. Beyond the extensive restoration that has preserved this Virage in its factory configuration, the only non-original change reported is an Alpine audio headunit.

Clean CarFax history, a key, toolkit, first aid kit, and spare wheel accompany the sale of this Virage Coupe. Limited in numbers and remaining under the radar even long after the end of its production, the last hand-built V8-powered Aston Martin coupe is destined to become a future classic among modern enthusiasts in the years to come.

Please note: the vehicle's odometer does not function, and total mileage is unknown.
