1992 | One-Owner Porsche 911 America Roadster
Overview
1952 saw production of the Porsche’s first USA-only offering, the 356 America Roadster. With fewer than 20 units built, the low-volume special offered inspiration for the forthcoming 356 Speedster (1954). Four decades passed before a succeeding 911 paid homage to Porsche’s first roofless stateside trendsetter, resulting in the 1992 America Roadster.
.
The 964-generation 911 America Roadster’s limited production from 1992-1993 totaled around 250 units. Marrying the respective high merits of both the 911’s Carrera 2 Cabriolet and Turbo platforms, a 3.6-liter air-cooled flat-six engine delivered 247 horsepower/228 lb-ft of torque, mated to a slick 5-speed manual transmission. Widened Turbo bodywork, upgraded suspension, brakes, and wheels offered legendary Porsche handling dynamics for an unparallelled top-down driving experience.
