Overview

Featured here on Sotheby’s Motorsport is a rarified opportunity to acquire a truly one-of-a-kind Porsche 911 Carrera RS Clubsport, under the radar and often unknown, even among dedicated of marque enthusiasts. Starting from the highly limited 964-generation 911 Carrera RS Clubsport with reportedly just 290 examples produced, this example elevates exclusivity further as 1 of 20 N/GT ‘Macau’ models in existence worldwide. Prominent unique features beyond standard RS Clubsport faire include leather upholstered bucket seats, a Clubsport steering wheel with multi-tone color inserts, and a leather-wrapped interior roll cage. Further performance enhancements net weight savings targeting prior Group N/GT class competition from removed sound deadening plus lighter body/interior panels and glass. Upgraded Bilstein suspension and 3.6L powertrain improvements pair with a five-speed manual shifting and limited slip differential. Adding to their rarity, each example was finished in an individual special-order body color as a distinct 1 of 1 configuration.
.
These specially optioned 964-gen 911 Carrera RS, enhanced by Porsche’s ‘Sonderwunsch’ Special Wishes program, were reportedly first ordered by a Hong Kong-based casino tycoon. Upon their refusal to complete the transaction upon delivery, Jebsen Motors (Porsche Hong Kong’s official dealer and importer) was forced to find new uses for these cars, made even more difficult by their left-hand-drive only configuration. Attempts via the Porsche Owner’s Club of Hong Kong members to purchase them for a one-make race series in the Macau Grand Prix (hence the inclusion of Macau in the model naming) failed. With limited domestic options to rehome the specially designed cars, resources in neighboring Japan were involved—namely the high-end dealer, Art Sports of Osaka, Japan, who subsequently sold the vehicles to private buyers.
.
This particular example out of the 20 ‘Macau’ units in existence is finished in Crystal Silver, with multi-tone blue interior sections, including the ‘Carrera RS’ stitching along the rear interior carpeting. First delivered to Japan, this example is stated to have been exported to Germany in 2014, before it arrived in the United States sometime in 2023, where it received a U.S title and was first registered in Georgia. Just over 43,000 kilometers (approx. 26,758 miles) are indicated on the odometer. Combined with no additional modifications reported, this coupe demonstrates careful use and diligent attention by its previous caretakers in Asia, Europe, and presently the United States.
.
All components of its bespoke Special Wishes configuration, along with defining Clubsport package features from 17” magnesium Porsche Cup wheels to upgraded Bilstein suspension, Schroth Racing Harnesses, and interior battery kill switch, have remained untouched. Accompanying the sale are the owner’s literature with supplementing documents (including a copy of the advertisement from when all 20 units were marketed in Japan), two keys, a toolkit, build sheet, and CarFax report. All told, this factory lightweight special carries significant history and compelling provenance for the discerning Porsche devotee collector.
