1993 | Bentley Continental IV Convertible
Overview
Under the thumb of Rolls-Royce since before WWII, Bentley turned a corner into the 1990s, re-emerging as a luxury and performance powerhouse. Predating successes of such storied models as the SZ-generation Mulsanne and Turbo R, the marque’s downplayed status among a devout consumer base never disappeared entirely. Begun in 1965, iterative versions of the H.J. Mulliner Park Ward-styled Corniche saw both Rolls-Royce and Bentley through trying economic circumstances, upholding a standard of luxury bar none. SY-series coupes, convertibles, and sedans reached a grand finale with the production of the Corniche/Continental IV platform (1992-1995).
.
Among Series IV variants, Bentley-badged Continental convertibles arrived in scant numbers from new. The model’s classic silhouette inspired awe top up, or down. Opulent woodwork, leather, and well-integrated power accessories placed the Continental in a class of its own. Performance of the fuel-injected 6.75L engine paired with four-wheel disc brakes and electronically controlled suspension to offer highly refined road manners at any rate of travel. Upon debut, the car’s integration of modern technologies with generational hand-craftsmanship was beyond reproach.
.
Finished in Brewster Green over Tan leather, this 1993 Bentley Continental convertible presents as one of just 18 produced in left-hand drive configuration. With an original MSRP of $242,900, this open-air SY features all available of-the-era luxuries under the sun and benefits from $90k in recent restoration and extensive mechanical reconditioning. Beneath a new Everflex top, the well-preserved interior features power adjustable heated seating w/memory, AM/FM/CD stereo w/Alpine replacement speakers, Wilton wool carpets, lambswool embroidered rugs, and boxwood inlay burr walnut encircling the cabin. Dual-zone climate control plus remote locks and alarm system add modern usability while its hand-assembled V8 sends power rearward via four-speed automatic transmission and refreshed running gear. 15” alloy wheels feature center caps matching the grille’s iconic ‘Flying B’ mascot. Showing just 37,436 miles, this exceedingly rare Continental is sold with both a clean title and third-party inspection report.
