Featured here on Sotheby’s Motorsports is a 1993 110-Series Defender that has undergone a roughly $325,000 restoration build by Texas-based Rover Republic. Over the course of at least 24 months,  the Defender specialist workshop has transformed it inside and out, with the results being a far more capable machine suited for any adventures or terrain, without sacrificing modern comforts. After undergoing a full frame-off restoration to galvanize the entire chassis and select underbody components, the body has been refinished in Ostuni White Pearl. A soft top canvas roof has been installed, bringing the rare option of open-top motoring for this long-wheelbase Defender. Aluminum-finished details on the side mirrors, hinges, air vents, and wing top, combined with LED exterior lighting and aftermarket wheels riding on BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires round off this Defender’s balanced modern and utilitarian appearance. 

 

The interior has also been extensively upgraded, bringing it to an elevated level of refinement and luxury from the original no-frills, function-over-aesthetic cabin - now featuring seating for nine passengers in total (including third row jump seats). Elevated interior features continue with the Black leather upholstery with diamond stitching details that overlay all of the seats and side door panels, combined with custom interior carpeting. The rear cargo area also features a custom oak-trimmed bed surface for premium aesthetics and additional utility for handling additional cargo loads or occupants. An upgraded Puma dashboard with a modern-era air conditioning system faces the occupants. Wood-trimmed steering wheel with classic-style instrument cluster gauges adds retro aesthetics for anyone behind the wheel.  Aluminum details are also found within the cabin’s cupholders and air conditioning controls. Further equipment installed defines the in-car entertainment experience, consisting of an Alpine touchscreen head unit, subwoofer, and upgraded in-car audio speakers. 

 

Power now comes from a 6.2L LS-series V8 engine, paired with a 6L80E automatic transmission - now operated by a push-button gear selection setup housed in the center console. A variety of upgraded components ensure optimal, turn-key performance from this Defender in any settings - including a transmission cooler, Allisport radiator with electrically-operated fans, rebuilt transfer case and center differential, along with rebuilt axles and a rear-mounted fuel tank. These are rounded off by a custom exhaust system that emphasizes the American-engineered V8 under the hood of this British 4x4. 

 

Just over 400 miles since this Defender’s build was completed are reported on the odometer. Seller’s Disclosure, key, restoration documentation, and spare wheel accompany the sale.
