1999 | Lamborghini Diablo VT Alpine Edition
Seller's Introduction
We are pleased to present our 1999 Lamborghini Diablo Alpine Edition #8 of 12, built exclusively for the United States Market to celebrate the relationship between Automobili Lamborghini SpA and Alpine Car Audio.
Overview
In 1998, Audi acquired Lamborghini from MegaTech of Indonesia, a company owned by SEDTCO Pty., who bought the company from the Chrysler Corporation in 1994. With the hiring of Michael Kimberley as president and managing director, previously with Jaguar, Lotus and General Motors, efforts were put in place to broaden Lamborghini offerings, particularly to the American market. One facet of special importance was to raise awareness of Lamborghini's heritage and mystique, which resurrected the SV moniker, the Jota name and, of course, the Alpine and MOMO Editions, both of which celebrated longstanding partnerships. The efforts did not go unnoticed and sales climbed steadily, bolstering Lamborghini's profits and providing additional capital to further its organization into a new millennium.
12 special-edition Diablo VT Alpine Editions were built for the U.S. market, of which this car is number eight. Powered by the 5.7 liter 523 HP DOHC V-12 engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission with a gated shifter, it features Brembo vented disc brakes, all-wheel-drive, climate control and power windows, among other amenities specific to the Diablo. The striking blue exterior finish is contrasted by a Snowcorn interior with blue piping and trim, as well as optional OEM carbon-fiber gauge surround and center-stack treatment. Specially made H.R.E. wheels and SV-style rear wing with carbon-fiber wing flip complete the car's exterior.
While the Alpine Editions received several aesthetic embellishments, a key feature of the model was Alpine's top-of-the-line CVA-1005 head unit with integrated navigation system and DVD player, 6-disc CD changer, and an arsenal of Alpine tweeters, midrange drivers, and subwoofers powered by amplifiers badged "Lamborghini." As one of the first efforts to turnaround the Raging Bull—and with only 12 ever built—the Diablo Alpine Edition will forever remain a special Lamborghini. This Alpine edition now shows 35,120 miles and is sold with two master keys, original owner's manuals, original tool kit, and original fire extinguisher. Both a clean New Jersey Title in the selling dealer's name and clean Carfax report accompany the sale.
