Overview

From 1992-2006, the AM General Hummer defined the upper limit of America's burgeoning early-oughts SUV mania. Famously federalized following pleas by soon-to-be celebrity governor Arnold Schwarzenneger, the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle—subsequently Humvee and Hummer—was first offered to the public by AM General. Though General Motors' eventual purchase of the Hummer brand paved the way for H2, H3, and Hummer EV platforms to follow, the original—later named H1, was produced under contract exclusively by AM General.
.
Despite its slab-sided ubiquity, much diversity across two/four-door truck and wagon layouts characterized production. While true that all Hummer and H1 trucks featured V8 power, the cylinder arrangement of choice saw diesel, gasoline, and varying displacements ranging from 5.7 to 6.6 liters. Three, four, and five-speed automatic transmissions routed power through full-time 4WD dual-range transfer cases. With a G.V.W. of 10,000 pounds, the massive 130-inch wheelbase featured four-wheel independent suspension and accommodated 37-inch tires.
Finished in White over Black leather, this 2000 AM General Hummer H1 arrives as Y2K's heavyweight champion. Atop a towering 16 inches of ground clearance, the sprawling cabin features seating for four with tan leather inserts, burl wood faux-veneer trim, Momo steering wheel, and Kenwood AM/FM/Aux stereo. Modifications include auxiliary fog lights, front / rear LED light bars, steel front bumper, and ladder-accessible roof rack. Power is provided by a Detroit 6.5L turbodiesel V8 paired with a GM 4L80-E four-speed automatic transmission. Both quick startup and crisp shifting is noted by the third-party inspection report. Famed approach and departure angles, water-fording capability, and gearing for 60% grades present the H1 as a value proposition in a class of its own. Showing an odometer reading of just 26,865 miles, this Hummer is sold with both a clean Pennsylvania Title and Carfax report.
