2002 | One-Owner 15k-Mile BMW Z8
Overview
The BMW Z8, a limited-production roadster built only from 1999 to 2003, was developed as a modern interpretation of the classic BMW 507 of the 1950s. Unveiled initially as the Z07 concept car in 1997 at the Tokyo Auto Show, the Z8 was designed by Henrik Fisker and aimed to capture the elegance and spirit of its predecessor while incorporating advanced technology and performance capabilities. The production version retained many design cues from the concept, including the long hood, short deck, and wide kidney grilles. The Z8 was powered by a 4.9-liter V8 engine borrowed from the BMW M5, producing 394 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds. This performance was matched by a lightweight aluminum spaceframe, providing a perfect 50/50 weight distribution and excellent handling characteristics.
The BMW Z8 featured a six-speed manual transmission, ensuring an engaging driving experience. The suspension system, derived from the E39 M5, included MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear, offering a balance of comfort and sportiness. The interior was a blend of luxury and simplicity, with high-quality materials, leather upholstery, and a retro-inspired instrument cluster positioned in the center of the dashboard. Modern amenities such as a GPS navigation system and a premium sound system were also included. Limited production numbers, with only 5,703 units built, have made the Z8 a sought-after collectible, appreciated for its timeless design, impressive performance, and its role as a bridge between BMW's rich heritage and its future in the high-performance luxury segment.
The 2002 BMW Z8 offered here is finished in Jet Black and features a black soft top as well as a body-color removable hardtop. Interior amenities include all Nappa Leather upholstery in striking Sport Red and Black, heated sport seats, a Harmon Kardon sound system, a 6-disc CD changer, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a power telescopic steering column. Heated power exterior side mirrors are complemented by neon turn signals and brake lights in addition to xenon headlights with washer jets. Staggered-width 18" 10-spoke alloy wheels ground the car and are mounted over ventilated disc brakes with Dynamic Brake Control. This example has been cared for by one owner since new and shows fewer than 15k miles on the odometer. Presenting in excellent condition, this Z8 is now offered with a clean Carfax report, third-party inspection report, and a clean title.
