2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series

Launched in 2008, the Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series improved on the CLK AMG Coupe's platform and took it to even greater heights of performance capabilities. As a ‘Black Series’ model, key changes included a bespoke body kit with widebody fenders, adjustable coilover suspension, ventilated disc brakes, and further weight-saving measures, from the incorporation of carbon fibre within the body to removal of some of the standard equipment. A 6.2L M156 V8, handbuilt by Affalterbach’s engineers, was featured under the hood, now capable of producing 500 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. Limited in number, reportedly just 500 examples were made worldwide. 

 

This example is reportedly 1 of 350 CLK 63 AMG Black Series models originally made for the US market, and touts further exclusivity by being one of only around 40 ordered from the factory in Arctic White, according to the seller. The model-exclusive widebody kit, with integrated carbon fibre front vents, rear diffuser and rear spoiler, confirms this model’s status as a Black Series-enhanced AMG model over a standard CLK AMG Coupe. Further hints are displayed by the quad rear exhaust tips and larger ventilated disc brakes, riding under a set of 19” AMG multi-spoke aluminum wheels. 

 

Focus on elevated performance continues within the cabin aesthetics and features, without sacrificing this Mercedes’s regular usability. Removal of the rear seats leaves driver and front passenger in a pair of power-adjustable leather AMG bucket seats, with Black Nappa leather upholstery overlaid with carbon fibre/aluminum trim featured throughout the cabin. Amenities onboard allow this ‘hardcore’ AMG sports car to split duty as a long-distance tourer, including AM/FM radio with integrated CD player and navigation, a premium Harman/Kardon surround sound audio system, automatic climate control, cruise control, and Keyless-Go. 

 

Under 10,000 miles are displayed on the odometer at the time of cataloguing. No modifications, clean CarFax history showing routine maintenance by various Mercedes-Benz dealerships, and low mileage reflect the well-preserved originality of this example.
