Overview

Offered here is a 2011 Aston Martin DB9 Coupe, finished in Storm Black over an all-Obsidian Black Bridge of Weir leather interior—one of only six US-market Storm Black examples as verified by Aston Martin Heritage Trust. Unlike standard blacks such as Onyx or Jet, Storm Black is a special tri-coat paint that includes genuine pearls and a tinted clear coat with subtle red & auburn metallic flakes. These elements catch the light, creating a shimmering effect and adding a dynamic quality to the paint, giving the vehicle a distinct appearance that changes with lighting conditions. Originally retailing for over $198k, this DB9 represents the height of Aston Martin’s handmade craftsmanship from Gaydon, England, powered by the iconic 5.9-liter V12 producing 470 horsepower through a 6-speed Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission. Elegant and understated, it features desirable options including Piano Black veneer trim, 10-spoke forged silver wheels, and a DBS special paint finish, all underscoring the car’s refined yet purposeful aesthetic.

This example has been exceptionally maintained and recently benefited from an extensive drivetrain fluid and sealant refresh and comprehensive servicing. In 2023, marque specialist Foreign Traffic completed a major fluid overhaul, replacing the engine oil, transmission fluid, differential oil, brake fluid, coolant, and power steering fluid using OEM components and premium lubricants. Subsequent visits in 2024 and 2025 addressed state inspections, alignments, and brake system flushes. Supporting components—including the transmission oil pan, gaskets, and valve body seals—were renewed with factory parts, and the car now rides on new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires mounted and balanced in early 2025. The result is a DB9 that performs with the smoothness, precision, and composure befitting its grand touring pedigree.

Cosmetically, the car has been brought to show-ready condition. In February 2023, it received a full paint correction and five-year ceramic coating by Elite Auto Detailing, enhancing the deep metallic luster of its rare Storm Black finish. In preparation for this listing, the DB9 also received a ceramic-safe one step polish by the same detailer. A Naviks wireless carplay and front/rear camera system and were also installed, blending subtle modern convenience with Aston Martin’s timeless design. With just 12,500 miles, meticulous documentation, a rare factory color, and extremely limited production verified by the museum of the marque, this DB9 Coupe represents an outstanding opportunity to acquire one of the most tastefully specified and well-preserved modern Aston Martins available today.

Known Shortcomings

The seller states: "This car runs beautifully, has been perfectly reliable for me and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it across the country. Nevertheless, the car has some minor defects which I will share here out of an abundance of transparency:

  • The waterfall dash has the common hairline cracks at the corners and just above the pop up LCD unit.
  • The passenger rear wheel has some crazing of the clearcoat, see photos
  • The headliner is just starting to sag
  • After replacing the 4 TPMS sensors, the light will occasionally come on, despite the unit being fully functional. It goes away when the car is restarted
  • The metal undershield will rarely sound like the sheet metal is flexing at low speeds. This was checked in 2024 and no faults were found
  • There are two small rock chips on the front driver fender near the headlights. One is 1-2mm and the other is 2-3mm. See photos
  • There is a touched up portion of the paint on the driver front fender. 1-1.5cm. See photos
