The mid-2010s are often remembered as the glory days of free-for-all supercar development, seeing the absolute peaks of performance squeezed out of seemingly inexhaustible cylinders and displacement figures. Powerhouses like the Ferrari 458 Speciale, Aston Martin One-77, and Bugatti Chiron proved that not only were astronomical performance specs possible, but a new generation of buyers demanded them. Lamborghini was no exception, with engineers seeking to produce a similarly specced replacement for the successful yet aging Murcielago. What resulted was the Aventador, launched at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and powered by an all-new V12. The car was instantly successful, but it was only a short time before it became clear buyers demanded an even faster machine. Lamborghini answered, releasing the SV or "Super Veloce" model in 2015, with the roadster coming the following year. 

Weight reduction was the primary modus operandi in achieving the uprated performance figures Lamborghini desired; the SV employed a modified exhaust system and extensive carbon fiber components. A weight reduction of 110 pounds resulted in a net 49 horsepower improvement from the familiar 6.5-liter V12, helping the car achieve a 0-62 time of 2.9 seconds. To better handle the car's improved acceleration, downforce was dramatically increased over the base roadster with the addition of a rear wing, optimized diffusers, and a new front splitter. Deliveries of the limited 500-unit production run began in early 2016 and concluded by the same time the following year. 

This 2017 Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster has remained part of the Ikonick Motors collection of Miami, Florida, since new and shows a mere 396 miles on the odometer.
