2020 | Porsche Taycan Turbo S
Overview
Though Porsche remains forever linked to its rear-engine roots, the marque’s modern offerings remain informed by a shared legacy of high engineering. For decades, new directions and moonshots from the 928 (1978) to the Cayenne (2002) have served both revenue and brand enthusiasm across market segments. Porsche’s entry into the EV market followed suit for model year 2020. From its debut, the new Taycan over-delivered on performance and build quality beside competitors.
The new car’s release in AWD-only 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S trim made use of two electric motors featuring a range in output from 522 to 750 horsepower. All models, plus a RWD variant in 2021 featured DC fast charging as standard. A two-speed transmission and familiar styling gave the Taycan continuity while establishing Porsche as a formidable contender in the EV space. Updates to charging tech and expanded optioning throughout production unlocked both competitive performance and standout value adds from Paint to Sample colorways to a novel dimmable panoramic sunroof. Without question, the Taycan arrived fit to wear the Porsche crest.
