Overview
Mercedes-Benz debuted the first ground-up redesign of its G-Class SUV in Detroit, MI at the 2018 North American International Auto Show. For model year 2019, the "G-wagen" arrived all new and expectedly opulent. Available in either G550 or AMG G63 configuration, both models came powered by a Biturbo 4.0L V8 and further equipped with nine-speed automatic transmission, independent front suspension, and rack and pinion steering. A clean-slate interior netted more room inside, digital dash with 12.3-inch infotainment display, acoustic glass, and sunroof. Still sporting three differential locks, the new G-Class delivered unmatched composure on-road or off.

The AMG G63—offered exclusively in high-power trim, bumped engine output to 577 horsepower and 627 pound feet of torque. Model-specific exterior cladding, grille, side-exit exhaust, and 21-inch wheels visually separated the top shelf-variant over non-AMG counterparts. Below the surface, performance tuning of both engine, transmission, and suspension were extensive.
