2021 | Porsche Panamera GTS
Overview
Though Porsche remains forever linked to its rear-engine roots, the marque’s modern offerings remain informed by a shared legacy of high engineering. For decades, new directions and moonshots from the 928 (1978) to the Cayenne (2002) have served both revenue and brand enthusiasm running a wide gamut. 10 years on from the new millennium, Porsche’s entry into the 4-door performance car segment again offered innovation poised to elevate the manufacturer’s status as a top contender in any class. Under a new Panamera namesake, the model delivered on a design brief balancing no compromise versatility with top-shelf performance.
.
Without question, the Panamera proved fit to wear the Porsche crest—its success warranting a second-generation facelift by model year 2017. Output from a Base 330 to 405hp 4S trim, quickly ballooned to over 470 in sweet-spot GTS configuration available two years following. Replete with Turbo-level go, its boosted 4.0L power plant delivered both thrill and refinement. AWD grip and dual-clutch shifting yielded a four-season family hauler counting as few seconds in a 60mph sprint. Continued development of the platform incorporated SportDesign styling alongside improvements to handling and available colors.
