With the big three’s legacy flagship coupes having graced showrooms to the present day, America’s muscle car mania never fully subsided. Chevrolet’s Camaro represents a significant chapter in the evolution of the category, blending modern engineering with storied beginnings. During the model’s fifth generation, GM Performance revived the ZL1 badge for model year 2012. While headlines drew attention to the new car’s supercharged 6.2-liter V8 motivation, a host of top-shelf chassis development and updates to refined styling and interior appointments contributed to the ZL1’s well-earned status as the ultimate production Camaro.
.
Succeeded in 2016 with a sixth—and reportedly final iteration of its internal combustion platform, the Camaro soldiered on as Chevrolet’s lone front-engine hero car into the 2020s. Gen-6 ZL1’s arrived with fitting fanfare, further available by 2024 in a swan song 350-unit Collector’s Edition limited run. Internally referred to as the Panther project throughout development, each numbered special came finished in a dark matte sheen, wearing a la carte go-fast equipment formerly reserved only for 1LE track trim. The finale spec’s power plant delivered an inspiring 650hp output, driving rear wheels to a top speed of nearly 200mph.
